...And Wisdom Comes Quietly

Do you want to sit quietly near a window and read a book which can
gives  you  the feel of  flying in the sky with the wings of happiness.
Then the choice would be "...And  Wisdom Comes Quietly" by  Helen
Exley.  Reading  the thoughts  & poems  from   this book is just like
breathing the fresh  mountain air  with full of energy.  This beautiful
book  talks about peace, solitary, happiness and shows  the way to
keep the innerself content just being simple.

"...And Wisdom Comes Quietly"   brings   together  the wisest words
ever wtitten about living simply and  peacefully amidst the pressures
of  the world.  With words from the greatest thinkers,  this  beautiful
book brings a deep sense of  peace and calm.

Few lines from the book....

I lay in a meadow
until the unwrinkled serenity
entered into my bones,
and made me into one
with the browsing kine,
the still greenery,
the drifting clouds,
and the swooping birds.
- Alice James

You do not need to leave your room....
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
Do not even listen, simply wait.
Do not even wait, be quite still and solitary.
The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked.
It has no choice.
It will roll in ecstasy at your feet.
-Franz Kafka

Over all the mountaintops
Is peace.
In all treetops
You perceive
Scarcely a breath.
The little birds in the forest
Are silent.
Wait then; soon
You, too, will have peace.
-Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe.

Come away from the din,
Come away to the quiet fields,
over which the great sky stretches,
and where, between us and the stars,
there lies but silence;
and there, in the stillness
let us listen to the voice
that is speaking within us.
- Jerome K.Jerome

Leave home in the sunshine:
Dance through meadow
Or sit by a stream and just be.
The lilt of the water
Will gather your worries
And carry them down to the sea.
- J.Donald Walters

...more and more lines in the book, brings  you the wonderful thoughts
for  your  soul to  reside  in  peace.  Paintings of each poem adds more
beauty to the book. "...And Wisdom Comes Quietly" makes a thoughtful
gift of lifelong value.

When I go alone at night

When I go alone at night to my love-tryst,
birds do not sing,  the wind does not stir,
the houses on both sides of the street stand silent.

It is my own anklets that grow loud at every step
and I am ashamed.

When I sit on my balcony and listen to his footsteps,
leaves do not rustle on the trees,
and the water is still in the river like the sword on the
knees of a sentry fallen asleep.

It is my own heart that beats wildly -
I do not know how to quiet it.

When my love comes and sits by my side,
when my body trembles and
my eyelids drop,
the night darkens,
the winds blow out the lamp,
and the clouds draw veils over the stars.

It is the jewel at my own breast that shines and gives light.
I do not know how to hide it.

The Beginning

This beautiful  poem is an excerpt from 'The Cresent Moon ' by Tagore.
No other poet can show the beautiful thoughts of  motherhood than Tagore does here.

Enjoy the great warmness of this poem.

Where have I come from, where did you pick me up?
the baby asked its mother.

She answered, half crying, half laughing, and clasping the baby to her breast-

You were hidden in my heart as its desire, my darling.
You were in the dolls of my childhood's games; and
when with clay I made the image of my god every morning, I made the unmade you then.

You were enshrined with our household deity, in his worship, I worshipped you.
In all my hopes and my loves, in my life, in the life of my mother you have lived.
In the lap of the deathless Spirit who rules our home you have been nursed for ages.

When in girlhood my heart was opening its petals, you hovered as a fragrance about it.
Your tender softness bloomed in my youthful limbs, like a glow in the sky before the sunrise.
Heaven's first darling, twain-born with the morning light,
you have floated down the stream of the world's life, and at last you have stranded on my heart.

As I gaze on your face, mystery overwhelms me; you who belong to all have become mine.
For fear of losing you I hold you tight to my breast.
What magic has snared the world's treasure in these slender arms of mine ?
